Vegas delivers on Florida's promise...
I surprised myself - I didn’t think I’d like Vegas, but it’s actually a really cool place…everything that Florida promises on…it delivers…a creation of a playground, from absolutely nothing, and defying the inhospitable natural environment.
And there’s an unabashed acceptance that raw capitalism and cash extraction is what fuels this place.

Everyone sees Dave Winer as a software guy, I think he’s at least as good a marketing guy - Monday, he has an idea, mocks it up, gets lots of input, tuesday, coins a bloody memorable phrase and buys the url. Of course, he’s nothing like a ‘real’ marketer - Winer gives all his ideas out for free.

The soul of the commuter →
Interesting, but really lengthy New York article on commuting…I’m increasingly interested in the culture of commuting - and it’s advantages and dysfunctions. Would the world be a better (and less carbonated) place if we just visited the office once a week?

Mass killer stops to videodiary himself - horribly inevitable, I suppose. Tragic, of course - noticed that in Iraq yesterday, 4 times as many people killed. That’s in a single day.
